RK A client of mine, a newly appointed CEO of an IT Staffing Agency is moving his business away from the commoditised "bums on seats" arena in which his company (and its share price) has been struggling. Getting the best itinerant IT professionals to register with his firm is mission critical, and the challenge is to find new ways to make his agency attractive to such talented individuals. Tom would call this making it a Magnet for Talent. One of his experiments has been to set up a private web community, which he invited 200 'top talent' individuals to join. The site provides technology news, personal development and networking opportunities, and has so far been sticky enough to keep 150 of the initial members active (these are IT people!). Who knows where this will lead, but it gives him and his team a window on the world of his target talent.
What did you learn from the exercise? How would you advise others attempting to follow your path?
